Magic Fire By: Brandon Jacobs
He dances around the Magic Fire,
Black Rain burns him,
He throws down wet stones,
In,
His future will hurt,
Troubled and different he doesn’t hide.

He is greeted at the gate,
Her hair billowing and pale,
Her cheeks rosey and pink,
She beckons him forth,
He slowly strides,
Towards her,
Calm,
Patient,
“O, why hath ye summoned mineself?”
she demands.

He silently continues his journey towards her,
She watches him, with a chilling yet beautiful stare,
He finishes his journey,
She places a hand upon his face,
“Sleep, my child,”
she says,
“and you shalst be healed.”

Eyes closed,
In slumber,
She lays him down,
Kisses his forehead.

Bright flash!
White Light,
He awakens,
Rejuvenated,
Rain has ceased,
The Magic Fire,
Dies slowly,
Into embers,
Ashes,
He tends the flames,
Poking.

Taking peote he crushes it,
In a pestle,
A fine liquid,
He drinks some,
Pouring the rest in the flame,
Starting the ritual again.

He recites the spell of the shaman,
Singing,
Dancing once more,
Waving his staff,
Calling for a guide.

The Eagle lands,
On a rock,
Proud and majestic,
The shaman bows,
Paying homage to The Great One,
Spreading its wings,
The eagle sends a gust of wind,
Surrounds the shaman.

The wind dies,
Sand ceases to surround,
The shaman now has wings,
“Follow me child,” The Great One says, “I shall show you the way.”

The Great One takes flight,
Straight into the flame,
Engulfed in flames,
The eagle continues its flight.

The shaman follows,
Soaring through clouds,
In pursuit of the fiery bird.

The Journey continues,
The shaman never looking back,
Always forward,
Following,
Waiting,
Hoping,
The eagle lands,
They are back at the Gate.

The eagle transforms,
The woman appears where the eagle was,
She is The Great One,
Bowing,
The shaman once again pays homage,
“Rise, my child,”
The Great One says,
“and tell me, O, why hath ye summoned me twice today?”
She query’s
“I feel like I am in danger,”
the shaman slowly states,
“that we are both in danger.”
He concludes.

“Indeed, we are.”
The Great One answers,
Then came Darkness,
Pain,
Despair,
Death.

The metaphor is different for everyone, look deep down inside oneself to find the metaphor.
